Why Install Extended Diff Breathers?

As your 4WD is driven, the oil and air inside the differentials, gearbox and transfer case increase in temperature.

The drivetrain needs to breathe as this internal temperature and pressure changes.

When a hot drivetrain component is suddenly exposed to cold water during a crossing, the air inside can cool and contract rapidly.

If the factory breather is submerged or exposed to contaminated water during this process, water and other contaminants may potentially enter the drivetrain through the breather or seals.
