Application

For best results, ensure surfaces are clean and dry before application.

Cut the nozzle to the required bead size and apply the silicone to one surface. Assemble components immediately. Bonded components may require clamping for approximately one hour or until the silicone has become firm.

The silicone becomes tack-free in approximately one hour and reaches full cure and maximum strength in approximately 24 hours under normal conditions. Colder or very dry conditions may require additional curing time.

Important Application Note

Permatex 81158 is a general-purpose adhesive and sealant and is not recommended for engine gasket applications.

It should not be confused with Permatex Ultra Black Gasket Maker, which is a different product specifically formulated for applications such as oil pans, timing covers and transmission pans.
